What Are Fractures?

Fractures are common injuries that can affect anyone, from active athletes to older adults. These can occur following falls, cycling accidents, gym injuries, trauma during sports, or sudden heavy lifting. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential for achieving the best recovery.

Depending on the severity of the injury, treatment may range from simple immobilisation to advanced surgical techniques

Treatment Of Traumatic Injuries & Fractures

Trauma and fracture injuries can range from simple fractures that heal with non-surgical treatment to more complex injuries requiring surgery. Treatment may include immobilisation, pain management, physiotherapy, or surgical repair, depending on the nature and severity of the injury. The aim is to restore function, reduce pain, and help you return to your normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.

When To See A Doctor

Following a traumatic injury or suspected fracture, it is important to seek medical attention if you experience significant pain, swelling, bruising, or any visible deformity around the affected area. You should also be assessed if you are unable to lift your arm, notice persistent weakness or a feeling of instability, or experience a loss of movement in your shoulder or elbow. Difficulty returning to normal daily activities, work, exercise, or sport following an injury may also indicate an underlying problem that requires specialist evaluation and treatment. Early assessment can help ensure an accurate diagnosis and optimise recovery.
